Runner’s World Interview with U.S. Marathoner Paige Higgins
Peter Gambaccini’s Brief Chat with McMillan Elite and Flagstaff-based marathoner Paige Higgins is definitely worth a read. Higgins is one of the top marathoners in the U.S., boasting a PR of 2:33:06 (Chicago 2008). Gambaccini talks to Higgins about her ambitious and rather unusal (for an American marathoner) decision to run four marathons in 2010, making 2010 her “go for it” year. Higgins kicked off the year with a near PR performance in Houston, running 2:33:22 to finish fourth. She plans to run the LA Marathon on March 21 and she and Coach McMillan will decide her next two marathons following that race. Higgins goal is to break 2:30 and make herself a serious contender for the 2012 Olympic team. Considering she is running upwards of 150 miles/week, Higgins should be in prime shape to smash 2:30.
