Khadevis Robinson continued his strong season with a 1:44.25 win in the 800m at the Sport Solidarietà International Meeting in Lignano, Italy, on Sunday, July 16. Christian Smith took third (1:44.86) in the race, and Derrick Peterson finished seventh (1:46.89).
Alice Schmidt also posted a strong win in the 800, narrowly defeating Slovenia's Jolanda Ceplak 1:59.35 to 1:59.38. The other U.S. competitors in the race were Christin Wurth-Thomas (fourth, 2:02.16), Sasha Spencer (sixth, 2:03.33), and Jenelle Deatherage (seventh, 2:03.46).
Adam Goucher led the U.S. competitors in the 3,000. He finished second to Kenya's Yusuf Biwott, 7:43.2 to 7:45.5. He was followed closely by Sean Graham (third, 7:46.9), Rod Koborsi (fourth, 7:48.4), Bret Schoolmeester (fifth, 7:49.5), and Galen Rupp (seventh, 7:56.3). Former University of Arizona star Robert Cheseret, who represents Kenya, finished sixth in 7:55.7. According to The Oregonian, the meet's automatic timing system failed, hence the hand times.
