Hazel Clark led the U.S. middle-distance/distance runners at the Meeting de Atletismo in Madrid on July 17, 2006. She finished second to Cuba's Zulia Calatayud (2:01.03) in the 800 meters with a 2:01.78. Jebreh Harris also competed in the 800, finishing third in the "B" race in 1:46.78.
Treniere Clement and Matt Tegenkamp represented the U.S. in the 1,500 meter races. Clement finished 10th in 4:09.42 and Tegenkamp finished second in the "B" race with a 3:39.51.
