Once again, Rebekah Noble provided the highlight for the USA's middle-distance/distance contingent as she earned a bronze medal in the 800m at the IAAF World Junior Championships today in Beijing. The University of Oregon rising sophomore finished third (2:04.90) behind Moldova's Olga Cristea (2:04.52) and Kenya's Winny Chebet (2:04.59).
In the 1,500m heats, Baylor's Erin Bedell grabbed the last qualifying spot for the final by finishing sixth in her heat in 4:20.67. Danielle Tauro, who is heading into her senior year at New Jersey's Southern Regional High School, did not advance to the final, but she ran a personal best of 4:24.16 in finishing fifth in the first heat.
Saturday's competition includes the finals of the women's 3,000 meters and the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase, but the U.S. will not be represented in either event.
