The 2007 National Distance Running Summit, to be held in Grinnell, Iowa, January 5-6, will feature legendary track coach Joe Vigil, along with up-and-coming coaching talents including Scott Simmons. The clinic is open to track and cross country coaches of all levels.
Vigil, the longtime Adams State coach, has served as an Olympic coach and guided Deena Kastor to an Olympic bronze medal in the marathon in 2004. Also presenting will be Virginia Intermont College's Scott Simmons, Grinnell College’s Will Freeman, the University of Iowa’s Larry Wieczorek, and Carleton College’s Bill Terriquez.
The summit will cover topics such as the physiology of training distance runners, success in cross country, motivational techniques, peaking, and nutrition.
