Midwest Distance Gala to host elite men's steeplechase race in 2007

The third annual Midwest Distance Gala (MDG) will be held on Friday, June 8, 2007 at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. For the past two years organizers have assembled high-quality high school fields to compete in a variety of distance running events. This year they will begin adding elite races to the meet, starting with an elite men's steeplechase.

Men's 3,000m steeplechase details:
Qualifying time: 9:15
Prize Purse: 1st - $750, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $250, 4th - $100
Bonuses: Any athletes that hit the "A" and/or "B" standard for the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will also receive compensation (yet to be determined)
Travel Assistance: Travel funds are limited, but organizers can help most with the cost of lodging, and possibly other transportation costs
