Hello from Eldoret, Kenya. It has come to my attention that there were some problems with The Runner's Cookbook and it has inexplicably been unavailable this past week. It seems that those issues have been resolved, and as of yesterday, the cookbook is now available again.
I'm enjoying Kenya tremendously, but I'm also looking forward to resuming updates to eliterunning.com when I return. Never in the past 18 years have I been this out of touch with with what's going on in the running world. I have, however, seen that Doug Logan is the new CEO of USATF, and I got to watch part of Shannon Rowbury's 4:00.33 1,500 on TV...so I'm not completely out of the loop!

For the first time since this site began in the spring of 2006, I am going to be unable to update it for an extended period of time. I will be in Kenya until roughly August 16th, without reliable internet access (as far as I know). My purpose for going over there is not exactly running-related, but we will be staying at Lornah Kiplagat's High Altitude Training Center in Iten, so I hope to return with some great photos and stories.
In the event that I do have occasional access to the internet, I will attempt to post updates to my personal blog. And if not, it'll be good to remind myself how I survived without the web for the first 18 or so years of my life.
Coverage will resume in August, mid-Olympics. Thanks for your patience!

As of a couple days ago, all of our photos of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon are posted. As of tonight, Peter Rufo's Boston Marathon photos are up. Alison's Boston Marathon photos won't be posted until Sunday (5/4), due to a host of other things going on.
You may have noticed that updates have been somewhat sporadic here recently. We've been working on a big project, which is something we are hoping to be able to announce in the relatively near future. In the meantime, please bear with us, because the updates should become a little more regular again relatively soon.

If you have questions for us, the best way to get them answered is by following the "contact" link which appears on every page of this web site, and e-mailing us at that address. Posting questions as comments on our blog entries is an ineffective method, especially if you do not leave an e-mail address.

We would like to join the rest of the running community in offering our most sincere condolences to Ryan Shay's family and friends in this very difficult time. It's clear that the entire running community—including those who did not know Ryan personally but followed his career through web sites such as this one—is shaken by this tragic event.
One never wants to see something like this become the lead story on a day when so many amazing running performances are put forth, yet the outpouring of support and concern for his family are a testament to the amazing, but too short, life Ryan lived.
When we return from New York tonight, we will begin posting our photos of the Trials which Mary Wittenberg referred to as "what otherwise would've been the greatest Olympic Trials we've ever seen."

Thanks to our great photo correspondents, we've now posted photos from four different events which were held October 26-28. We have Margaret Gallagher's photos from the Pac-10 Cross Country Championships, Tim O'Dowd's photos from the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Cross Country Championships, and Peter Rufo's photos from the Boston Mayor's Cup.
We will be posting many more photos from the Mayor's Cup in the upcoming days.

Thanks to our great photo correspondents, we've posted many photos from this past weekend. We've been gradually adding photos from Pre-Nationals, held at Indiana State last weekend. We should have photos from the women's "blue" race soon.
We've also added photos from the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University, and the San Jose Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon.

Though only the most recently posted photo gallery appears on the home page of this site, we attended three different events this weekend and have now posted photos of all of them. In addition to today's Tufts 10k, we also covered the B.A.A. Half Marathon and the New England Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships. All can be found in the photo gallery.
