The temperature at race time was in the 30s. It wasn't warm, but it could have been a lot colder. The road was dry, making for good racing conditions. |

John Mortimer announced that the first runner to pass through the quarter mile would receive a $50 bonus, the first through the half mile would get $75, and the first through three quarters would get $100. |
